Alien Run race in Aztec, NM this Sunday, May 2nd

So, this is my very first every mountain bike race I'll be in this coming Sunday. The Alien Run in Aztec, NM. I have never ridden the trail there. I've been training locally in the Durango area, mostly on Horse Gulch. So I've been getting a lot of good time in on some higher altitude stuff. I'm excited. I've decided the only person I am really racing against is myself. I'm coming up on 45 years in June. I was out of the cycling scene for about 10 years and last summer rediscovered my passion for it. I'll be attempting the Iron Horse Classic here in Durango the end of May for the first time as well. I guess this summer is a year of change for me. To beat my body back into submission and good physical shape. I have a few epic mountain bike trails I want to visit this summer as well, Phil's World, Molass down to Durango, Moab, Gallup, etc...Anybody on here that doing the Alien Run or the Iron Horse?

I used to live in Farmington and loved the trails up The Glade and around Durango. Hermosa Creek and Potato Lake were great butt kickers.

How did the race go?

I finished in the middle of all the participants. I was really glad just to finish this year. IT was a blast and I'll do it again next year.
