Ok I haven't rode in about 10 yrs. I went out today and looked at some bikes. Basically I will be doing mild trail riding. The bikes I looked at were the K2 ZED 3.0 and the TREK 4500 Alpha. I rode the ZED and must say it wasn't bad. I didn't have a chance to sit in the drivers seat on the TREK. Either bike is going to cost me basically the same. $599.00 for the ZED or $599.99 + a 5% discount on the TREK. Which one should I go with. I have used the search function and have not really came up with an answer. I figured someone here would have some good reccomendations. Also, both shops offered a free tune up and 25% off of all accessories. Please give me your thoughts.

Hard choice for this price.... Alot of us have more than that $$$ in our front forks. I'd say research the component package on each bike and let that be the determining factor. In other words, get the most bang for your buck....

I have 2 K2's ($1800+ range) and love them. My brother has a Trek carbon fiber road bike & loves it.... Both are good brands....

Thats what I've been trying to research. Where I have been out of the sport so long I really don't know what is better as far as components. The K2 has a Answer 6 fork, Shimano Deore rear derailleur and Alivio front derailleur, Truvativ Isoflow crankset. The TREK has a RockShox Judy TT fork, Shimano Deore rear, Shimano Acera front derailleurs, and a Shimano MC08 crankset. So which has the better components? School me here because this is where I need help. LOL

They're both very similar from what you've listed. I'm not very familiar with the lower end component groups, but I do know that Deore is pretty good. I'd choose the RS fork over Answer, but really it boils down to looks at this price. Which one looks best to you & feels best to you while riding would be the one I'd choose. They may ride totally different. Take them both on a test ride, and let that make you decision for you....

I'll go ride the TREK tomorrow. Then go hop the K2 again. Appreciate the help. Thanks again!
