SPD MTB pedal question
Quick question:
Did Shimano ever make a titanium SPD MTB pedal?
Some guy is trying to sell me an older bike (that he doesn't know much about) and mentioned that it had these pedals. I tried to do some research, but couldn't find anything. I went to their website, and all their current models are chromoly/aluminum.
Thanks.

I don't know w/o spending time on researching it, but I currently run magnesium pedals, which cost probably $100 less, and weigh about a penny more.... Go figure.

Shimano never made ti versions of their pedals nor do I think any of them had as much as even ti spindles. You can however buy aftermarket ti parts for Shimano SPD pedals. Also, some companies produced knockoffs of the more popular Shimano SPD pedals and offered them with ti spindles. I had a set of K2 Mag-Ti pedals that came with my MTB. These were knockoffs of the Shimano PD-M737 design. They had magnesium bodies and titanium spindles. I only used them for about a year and then switched over to Time ATACs. I recently gave them to a friend of mine who put it on her roadbike.
Maybe the seller is referring to SPD in the generic sense or maybe the pedals have been upgraded with ti spindles and/or other hardware. It should be fairly easy to tell the difference between titanium spindles and chromoly spindles. Just use a magnet.
