I'm finally back on a MB

And I couldn't be more excited! I found this forum about 2 years ago when I purchased my Specialized Hardrock 29er. I rode it until July of 2013 when I unfortunately crashed on a local trail. A buddy and I were riding a local trail within a local state park here in Alabama. I'm so thankful I wasn't alone too. After spending 8 hours in the trauma center at UAB Hospital and having rotator cuff and significant nerve damage repaired, I'm back and ready to try again! I sold my Hardrock after the accident and bought a Jackson fishing kayak which has been some amazing therapy for my shoulder. I decided it's time to get back on a bike, so I went the other day and bought a new 2015 Specialized Rockhopper Expert 29er! I can't be more happier with my selection! Anyways, I'm heading back out and praying for no major spills this time!

Welcome back. I stayed out a LOT longer but came back as well. In 2008 I tore the labrum in my shoulder. I was concerned about biking as I hated that experience. It was a lot of rehab. This past weekend I took a spill on my road bike. I was going about 18mph when I hit a curb. Thankfully, old habits die hard and when I fell, right on my shoulder, I did the old tuck and roll. No sticking out of the arm, which guarantees the broken wrist. Just the old familiar role. The first thing that I thought after making sure that I was out of the road (I landed on the grass) was "crap, right on the shoulder". I got up and had no problems with it. The 8"x3" bruise on my shin from the crank was my only physical parting gift.
Long story short, it will be ok. You will fall and hopefully you will be fine.
Good luck out there and enjoy.
