I would like to get some new springs for my Marzocchi MZ fork that came stock on my 05 Hardrock.

I'm a big guy at 6'6" 260lbs... so the fork seems a little soft, even with the preload turned up.

Could you recommend some nice springs for my fork?

Raiyn, I know you're out there somewhere... you're a bigger guy too. :p

Thanks.

you need a new fork .that fork is not made for huge guys!!!!it will most likely brake sooner or later no matter what springs!!!

I'd have to disagree with the previously stated advice. I have a Marzocchi EXR pro and I ride the crap out of it at 450#. I would check with your local bike shop as their advice would probably be better. You might also want to contact Marzocchi directly and ask them for a part # so that your local bike shop can order them. If you want to stick to online only Cambria bikes is the place to go. I know two people off ehre who have ordered stiff springs for MZ forks from them.

i have to disagree with the previously stated advice .
investing 40 $ into that fork for new springs for you is nonsense.if you plan on doing anykind of jumps , drops or downhills i would highly suggest buying something else.if you just want to ride dirt roades the fork will hold up ,but then you wouldn't need different springs ether.i had the same fork on the same bike and in fact this fork shouldn't be on there.

nah monkey... I don't do drops any higher than 3-4 feet. In fact I mainly do trail riding, XC.

This fork has held up just fine for now.

heh... I'm willing to risk 40 bucks. ;)

Anyways... thanks PWRD.

Have you replaced your springs? If so, was it a big difference?

The fork is kind of the weak link in the chain here. You CAN get the heavy duty springs and this will give you more capability than the stockers which max out around >180 lbs. I would look for a more purpose built fork when fundage will allow for it.

Will I still need to replace the springs if I spent 300 bucks on a fork (recommended by your guys)?

Not if you order it through your LBS and you tell them to order it with the correct springs installed.

I'm 6'4" 230 lbs. I just ordered the X-Heavy springs for my Marzocchi fork. $40 + 3.85 shipping. It was either that or $400+ for a new fork. I decided to gamble the $45 for a year or two. Get the springs.

"nah monkey... I don't do drops any higher than 3-4 feet. In fact I mainly do trail riding, XC."

i would not feel comfortable doing 3-4 foot drops with that thing!!!!
i sold my mz comp as new on ebay for 140 bucks ,for a little more than that you can go get a used marzocchi with bomber quality ,which you should defenitly have concidering your weight .
if you do mostlt xc ,i would look into the mx comps.a friend of mine rides one just fine with stock springs and he is like 250 pounds.

and BTW,aren't those Marzocchi EXR's bomber ? at least they used to be.

Yes but they arent any better than the MZ Comp. The MX Comp is probably the most reasonable other than the Rock Shox Pilot for an entry level XC fork.
