Chain Bounce
I am finding it very annoying on my new Norco Tactik hardtail that the chain seems to bounce around a hell of alot! It makes alot of noise and comes off and gets caught alot too. My buddy has a kona shred and there is barely any bounce. Any ideas?

You need to shorten the chain by a few links.

You need a chain breaker and a way to figure out how many links need to be removed.

Kona...how do you figure that out? is there a number you can go by using the maximum number of teeth you have on combined top rings

For Levi's case I would remove 5 links first to see if that helps, if not, then 10.

that seems like a lot to me. I mean if it works it can't be that much too long. I would think only 2-5 links myself.

I am saying 5-10 because the tactic uses short chain stays. Out of the two I gave, I think it will be the 5 that solves it.

I would put it in the largest chainring and largest sproket, and take out enough links to make the derailleur a 45 degree angle with the ground. Then, get yourself a lizard skin chainstay shield.

the park link is very helpful.
There are mathematical forumulas but not worth the time. Just use the small small/big big technique they explained and when removing links...be conservative. I never take off more than 2 at a time unless its a brand new chain in which case they are usually fairly oversized.

More than you need to pay. It is so simple, especially if you don't have a Sh*tmano chain. They should have done it when they assembled the bike, but I would do as much work on your own as possible. 40 bucks an hour for labor is rediculous.

yea a chain tool can be aquired for under 10 dollars, it takes no genius to figure it out.
