2006 Jamis Dakar XC Pro

Marriage, 3 kids, and 6 years ago i enjoyed biking and I am trying to get into biking once again. At the time i had a $500 Motobecane and just went out and had fun with a couple of buds. I am wanting to become a active rider again.

I let the word out on the Army Post that i live on and was offered a 2006 Jamis Dakar XC Pro for $350. guy guy said it has Brand new fork, seat, grips, and tires.

I do not know much about bikes and was wanting a couple of knowledgeable opinions.

A little about me i am 220 pounds and 6ft. I plan on riding trails, asphalt paths, and whatever else seems fun at the time.

I appreciate the feedback in advance...

For $350 kind of hard to go wrong with that as long as it is the right size and not worn out. What fork did he put on it? Had a pretty good one to begin with.

Hey guys. It has been a while since I've been on here but was browsing and this thread caught my eye. If that is an XC Pro, I would snag it for that price. According to bicycle bluebook the MSRP on that was $4K. If it's in any decent shape at all I would say it's easily worth $350. Do you have a pic of it? I am curious.

Here are pictures of the bike. I ended up getting it yesterday.
It has a rockshok front fork because the previous one broke. I plan on getting a pump for the shocks and I am trying to figure out how many pounds in need in the middle shock. The front shock says 175 I believe.

Any input?

The saddle need to be rasied a lot, looks far to slammed at the moment.

The brake cabling is also a real mess, the hydraulic hoses are far too long, these need shortening, you can do this at home, but will need olives & inserts & cutting tools, plenty of guides on Youtube as to how to do this.

The brake levers also need angling down, as the appear to be pointing at an upward angle at the moment.

Given the age, would also do a seal service on the rear shock, that's easy, all you need is a Fox service kit, some picks, IPA (isopropyl alcohol) and a clean rags
