I got the manual for the Rock Shox and original bill of sale too. since changing the
freewheel I've even gotten a decent bit of speed out of it. It's still considerably
more work to ride than my 'Vega mixte with the Tange Pro tubing, naked frame 3 1/2 pds.

I am in process of finishing this 29er Hardtail up. The frame with BB and rear axle weighed 4.64 lbs. The finished bike is 26.6 lbs.

My titanium frames weigh about 3.5 pounds. That's a light frame.

Is that a 120mm fork? Looks good.

It is a 100mm SID XX. That is what Lynskey uses when they build this bike up, so I did not want to go outside that geometry.

I think it is awesome that you built a bike from spare parts, and a decent one at that. Enjoy your creation with pride, I would.

It's Chromo too. I also have a Raleigh technium mt. bike that I pirated components for the Giant. The
paint was trashed & it has a few dings, so, as the dings are on the chromo stays, I'm stripping the paint
to leave the polished aluminum bare, Then I'll fill the little dings with J&B weld & repaint stays,bb, headset
& fork copper. It's gonna look cool. No suspension, but it should weigh in at about 24 pds.

I ride steel mountain bikes. 33 seems a tad much for a 1x HT. Looking at your build sheet, I realize the frame and fork are adding a lot. Probably the wheels are pretty stout.

I've ridden over 30, but, I'd rather get below 30. My steel bikes, (I realize they are 26ers), come in at 27 and 28 lbs with Marzocchi oil bath, square taper cranks set up as 2x with heavy cassettes.

The build:
- On One EVO2 456 14" Raw finish steel frame (measured at 5 lbs 7 oz)
- XT crankset with steel 28t
- BB70 bottom bracket
- Cane Creek 40 headset
- Thomson seatpost collar
- BBG 30t bashguard
- N Gear Jump Stop
- SRAM 9spd 971 chain
- Shimano HG400 12-36t cassette with the 12t / lockring replaced with a 11t
- XT Shadow Plus clutched rear derailleur (RD-M786)
- KS Eten lever actuated dropper seatpost
- Brooks B17 leather saddle in Honey
- Truvative hussefelt 50mm stem
- Truvative riser bar
- ODI lock on grips (Rogue?)
- Random wheels: Mavic Rear with XT hub, Alex 20mm front
- Kenda Nevegal 26x2.35 front & rear
- XT brakes
- Marzocchi 55 R (2009 - converted to open bath, this thing alone is like 6+ lbs)
- Wellgo MG-1 pedals
- Suntour Power Thumb Shifter
- Problem Solvers Travel Agent w/ barrel adjuster to allow the rear derailleur to work with the friction shifter

This should be a fun bike to toss around and crash without worrying about breaking it.

are you jumping? looks like a dirt jump frame to me if so you really went over board man.
eitherway i love it nothing beats a good steel frame

I also have this frame with Nevegals. I dont find it particularly heavy but i would like to get the weight down all the same. What tyre would you recommend?

I recently went tubeless with Charger Expert wheels and a new-to-me fork. The bike lost some weight:

Fork and wheelset. That's about a 4 pound weight loss for $460.

My Nevegals are tubeless tires so they are heavier than non-tubeless tires. Are your tires tubeless?

My 29er single speed Kona Unit has regular (non-tubeless) Maxxis Ardent tires which I'm using in a DYI configuration right now. Those tires ride similarly to the Nevegals and are particularly light (due to the thinner side walls being non-tubeless). They seem to be taking the Stan's Sealant pretty well.
