Right well the times poping up for another bike...and at the moment those bikes fit my current price range. Also I will be new to Kona bikes..might be my first ever...so anything I should know about them? And where would they sit with the other manufactures?

I'm also after your recommendations on the Specialized HardRock vs the Fire Mountain. I managed to find a shop that sells Specialized...;) Give in your comments on the 2 bikes...especially the Fire Mountain, since I havn't seen a lot of reviews about it.

Thanks everyone!

the *!*!*! things make me feel like not replying with anything worthwhile. :D Thanks and have a nice day.

Funkychicken 05-03-05 12:42 AM

yes, there IS something you should know about Konas.... they kick a$$.

seriously though i have a blast myself which is only one model up from fire mtn and so far it's been great. cant offer much constructive comparison, but know that i'm a very happy customer. why dont they have specialized in melb?

not really...it makes me neglect a kid...makes me think a 13 year old is creating the post and has no idea what the SEARCH button is...

No, it makes it look like an 11 year old did. Next poster say 10 year old.

=============================================

I'd get the fire mountain probably. Schwinns are kind of unappealing since they have some of them for like a hundred bucks at walmart and etc. Did you check out the Specialized Hardrock yet?

EDIT: Neon, I'm kidding about the 11 thing. Just following the pattern that PWRD and Raiyn set above. 13 - 12 - 11... etc.

I have no idea, they might somewhere, but all the shops i've been to dont seem to. Ifound a shop that stocks Kona's and Diamond Backs. Giants are the click of a finger to get, and Schwwins are also easy to find.

I like the Fire Mountain.....and from what i've read they seem a good bike. But also heard a lot on the Mesa GSD, so the whole point of this thread was to give some CURRENT information between the two bikes... (for those wanting me to do a search)

Funkychicken 05-03-05 01:14 AM

...blah blah blah like a 10 yr old - there i said it.

as for specialized, is this place close to where you are?

Great, i now found a shop! Thanks...didn't think of them. Kew is about 1hr drive away, which would be drivable for a new bike. Mabe I should make a new thread 'Fire Mountain vs HardRock'...without the *!*!*!?

[bEn] 05-03-05 01:40 AM

The Schwinn Mesa GSD seems to be an alright bike. My friend has the 2004 model and he loves it. The 2005 model seems to be better with better parts and all, but you still can't go wrong with a Kona.

No new thread. You'd be like the newbs at that point.
As for my vote: Hardrock

Hahaa! Good ole' seroius Rayin, you need to reconise seroius from non-seroius talk...that being non-seroius...too bad you didn't pick it up. Ima not gonna bother...you know what will happen!

blue_neon 05-03-05 01:58 AM

Infact the Hard Rock ATM works out $50 cheaper then the Fire Mountain. Although thats on special...I'll probalby be picking up a new bike in a few months.

It's why they invented emoticons and smileys :p

Never caught you in that mood before. :)  :D :p :o  :(

blue_neon 05-03-05 02:16 AM

I've seen so many good reviews on the Hard Rock, that i'm probably favouring that bike. Only others that match around that price range are the Mesa GSD and Fire Mountian. So lets say these 3, which is the best for your $$?

[bEn] 05-03-05 02:19 AM

In price wise....
1. Hardrock
2. Mesa GSD
3. Fire Mountain

Lack of stupid posts tonight I'm thinking. I'm going to say it again Hardrock. Go for the best version you can afford

blue_neon 05-03-05 02:43 AM

Well they've got Single Speed, Sport Disk, Sport and Hard Rock. So knock out the V-brakes, and add on 2 more chainrnigs, and I've only got 1 choice...the Sport Disk. The specs are great and this is the 2004 model. I'm probably asking the 'which bike' questions 4 - 5 months in advance, so by the time I will get it the '06 models might be out...not sure what time of year Specialized release 'em.

Although the '04 will go down a great deal in price I hope, if there still around by the time I want it, otherwise the '05 it is unless the '06 is out. The '05 available is the HardRock Sport Disk, which is the same price as the '04.

Just want to get an early idea of bike I would be looking at...probalby will get one around November this year.
