3 local trails - for those who like pics

https://www.leelau.net/2004/Whistlerpemberton/kill.htm

Just thought I would post a pictoral. These are all trails in the local area. I have only ridden ones on the main page. Cream puff and the other link at the top are ones I have not ridden before (this year though)...

Great pics! Where are these trails located?

I'm here in the midwest (Iowa), so our hills and views don't quite compare. Can't wait to head west someday and try out some trails like you show in your pics....

The one pic (first page) is two trails. Both withint a 4minute car ride. 20min bike or so. Train wreck is a short 1 hour. Kill me thrill me is quite a bit longer and more...classic I guess. Both are in whistler.

the other two (links at the top) are in pemberton. 20minutes by car. Some of the steepest natural terrain/trails around.

Wow, five flats? Is that typical for MTB? How many spare tubes do you guys typically carry?

I carry 2 or 3. And no not typical, but the riding they are doing is a little beyond regular trail riding.

I know one of these riders too, he is the type who wants his bike lean and mean. He likely has light tires and tubes. Where I don't care cause I suck at climbing anyways So I run heavy dh wheels

Then Pete flats again! The fifth time- but this time he tears the valve off a presta tube. Bye bye Pete - guess you're walking. About an hour of wall and rock-riding has now gone by so we leave Pete with tools and one more tube and finish off Kill Me Thrill Me. Some of us then continue to Comfortably Numb and its Young Lust variation while Nigel and Chris - both of whom are thoroughly exhausted - go back to the cars.

With just 4 people in the group now hammering their heads off the technical little climbs and one big climb in Numb goes by quickly and we're quickly at the ridgeline climb. Rainbow Mountain is in the background.
Ok I just read that. These guys are nuts. Kill me thrill me is pretty brutal by itself (2 hours to 3)...Numb is a dumb trail. Pure bread xc uphill for 2 or 3 hours and then a 30 minute reward when it doesn't matter because you have gone ******** from climbing single track all day. I am impressed these guys are machines.

You know... that actually makes me depressed! I absolutely love the outdoors, and that actually makes me sad sittin here looking at that while I look out my window at the house next door. You are soooo lucky words cant describe it. Have you lived there your whole life? I am going out to vancouver this summer so I will get a taste of it, but I cant bring my bike, because it is like a family reunion. I just learned this year I have cuzins out there. I hope they are nice, and I get envited back. Once again you extremely lucky to be able to wake up every morning to that. You could ski, board, bike, and dirtbike. wow.

I am from a college town in Ontario called Guelph. Nice town, but I hate Onterrible. I had 25 years of suffering there. I go back and within a week I want to leave. I was not a mountain biker, that wasn't my problem. My problem was, well, lots of things. My dream since I was knee high to a gresshopper was to leave ontario. When I was 14 I met a friend who lived in bc (later left) and described it to me. I know I needed to move here. Mountains, girls, mountain, trees, tree and more freaking trees. Like northern ontario but with tonnes of elevation and less black flys and mosquitos.

At the age of 24 I picked this girl up in a bar, who was visiting, we connected and I was offered a lay off. 1 year of pay with no work...hmmm...I jumped at the chance and left ontario forever, moving here to be with her, the mountains and myself. I haven't left since, I also have been more successful and satisfied with life than I ever could be in onterrible...

Thats my adult life in a nutshell haha

We almost made it up this summer but we got another little one on the way in Aug so no bike trips . I/we may do some short trips but Whistler calls for a minimum of 2 weeks lol.

By the way Mael, Your age does not indicate that you are yet an adult

Hey Mal? looks like that train car jump would really work the FRS suspension to death if you misjudge the landing, or does the pic make it look worse than it is?

I am all over cream puff. I love the irony here. The worst trails have the girliest names. Cream puff, I haven't yet rode, but hear lots of rumours.

Another little one, jeez you are a machine, you need to split the cycle and start spitting them out in the winter ..gives you summers to come to whistler

In tofino yes. Its on the island so I wouldn't call it close. Need to ferry over there. That and its COLD all year round. Need to surf in a wet suit in order to pull it off. But yes in theory I could ski morning, bike morning to afternoon and head to the island for evening surfing...haha
