Today on the trail I...

Met a married couple with matching bikes. Hubby teaching wifey how to clear roots, logs, etc.
Met another couple with their pooch.
Helped a mom and daughter get their new horse accustomed to being around bikes.
Found a new section of singletrack.
Found out how bad I suck doing "stunts" on above trail.
Got to end of trail and had no idea where the trail went.
Carried bike about half mile through brush and downed trees trying to find trail/road.
Climbed huge hill after I found trail again and was rewarded with sweet new singletrack.
Plowed right shin into stinging nettle bush rounding corner. Immediately flushed with camelback and didn't really get that itchy.
Hit head and forearm on thankfully flexible tree and only got a tweaked visor and poke on the side of the face.
Wheelied through long mud puddle and cleared the whole thing.
Ended back at truck muddy, bloody and smiling. What a way to spend the morning.

How'd your ride go**********

Right on man.

Mine went well also.
-Found a wicked obstacle course at a quasi construction site near the trail and had some fun.
-Conquered a couple of inclines which I would have been too affraid to even 2 weeks ago.
-Practiced not losing the back wheel on sand and small gravel.
-Saw a family of 5 with really nice bikes, even the little kids had Treks.

he did say nice...... not great, but nice. we had a large storm yesterday. the kind with lots of rain, wind, lightning that raises the hair on your arms, hail etc. so I went to check the damage on my favorite trails today after work. with all the rain I could see where the water wanted to go but couldnt so I made it so it could by removing berms ,debris, etc. as well as resloping the hills that washed in areas that I could. all in all I did work on almost 7 miles of trail. not all of the 7 miles needed work but I patrolled, removed branches and did what needed to be done. it was great. all the rain made it easy to find the proper areas to work on. the ground was so soft I did it mostly with my shoes or a stick. most of these spots have been troublesome for a long time but the IMBA trail building book kicks!!!!
