I'm from California, and no one who lives in Orange County calls it "the O.C." If they do, they are mindless sheep who spend too much time fantasizing about TV "reality".

The closest i've ever heard a native call it is "OC" without the "the" in front, and then usually only when using some sort of acronym, like OCCC, for Orange County Community College, etc.

As far as where to ride, try this link, has some good info:

Not to beat it to death, but I agree. I'm an LA-to-San Diego transplant. No "the", por favor. Anyway...

I once rode the San Juan trail, which is off the Ortega Highway. Awesome ride, if you like long climbs and decents. I hear Laguna area has some good trails. Then there's that place where the people were attacked by the mountain lion last year. That looks nice too.

I never call it "the OC" but for the title I wanted to make it clear that its OC, California and not Orange County, Flordia or anywhere else that has the same County name.

Anyways, can anyone answer the original question. Where else are good places to ride in Orange County?

ahh, gotcha on the "the" thing. There's an Orange County in New York too. I did answer the original question in my first post (see the link, at least 10 different trails with directions to get there and good descriptions).

But just for the heck of it, here's another link:

Carbon Canyon (Brea)
Whiting Ranch (Tustin)
El Morro (Crystal Cove/Newport Beach <The OC)
Santiago Canyon (Tustin)
I ride a road bike, but these are the places I've mountain biked in the area, I'm sure there's many more and probably better.
