2012 Jamis X3, good first mtb?

Hi all, I'm coming from the fixed gear world, and recently a local shop had a free demo day of mountain bikes and I was handed a $7k mountain bike for the day, and had a blast on it. Now i'm never going to spend that kinda cash on a bike, but thought if i had one it would be a fun toy to play on.

I figured i'd look on my local CL and see if I can find something cheap enough to play around on, and I happened across a stock lightly ridden 2012 Jamis X3 for $150

Its in good shape and my size, but I don't know anything about mountain bikes and if this would be good for me.

Mainly i'm looking for light trail riding, jumping curbs, and a little bit of rocky terrain use ( along the local creek beds )

Would this be something for me, or should i hold onto my money.

It is a low end entry level bike but for $150 it isn't bad. It isn't that old and as long as the drivetrain is in decent shape and the fork still works I'd say go for it. If you get into the sport in a year or two you will want to upgrade to a better bike so don't waste money upgrading the Jamis.

yeah, i'm just wanting to make sure its not crap or thinking i should have just bought something a little better from the shop, and that if it doesn't work out i'm not over paying and could re-sell it for most of my money back.

Trail X 3.0

They are a decent enough bike. No bells and whistles, decent components. If you plan on riding light trails & gravel it will be fine. It will be behind the curve on more serious trails.
I rode mine on a lot of trails I probably shouldn't have and paid the price more than once.
Ride it and enjoy it for what it is.
