What sort of protective gear do you use and have you ever been injured?
Hey good people. I'm posting on behalf of my team, we're four students at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
We want to make some high tech equipment that makes it so you don't break your collarbone or mess up your shoulders and neck if you fall off.
But basically, we need to find out what sort of stuff people who bike care about so we can make something you want to use.
So we have this survey that we hope some of y'all will answer. We're not selling anything, we're just researching so we don't make something annoying that you won't want to use, even if it protects your body.
So please take our survey (https://goo.gl/forms/R3H9PvdLNxiHN5Ge2), it will really help us if you do.
I hope I'm not breaking any rules by posting this. We're not trying to get you to buy anything, we just want your opinion about stuff. Thanks! :-)

Helmet, gloves, knee pads, elbow pads, sports glasses. Have you looked at what is available now?

Shock Doctor Shockskin padded shirt and compression shorts. Elbow and knee pads, helmet, gloves, sports goggles, sometimes shin guards as well if there will be a lot of brush and debris.
Love the Shock Doctor padded shirt and shorts. I've taken a few good falls on my road bike and wished I'd had them on at that time, but kinda hot for that. Perfect for trail riding in cooler weather.

Yes, but so far our research tells us that a lot of bikers find some of the gear to be too restrictive, heavy or hot, so want to make something that's not just a bunch of padding you strap on.

Helmet, gloves, knee/shin armor, and sport/safety glasses.
Some of the pictures in the survey were pretty good!
For me upper body injury has always been an issue. Not so much since I've gotten older but I've injured my ribs more than anything while mountain biking

I currently only use gloves and a helmet. I plan on adding some of those soft shin guards next year. I used to not wear a helmet but I endoed on a trail, covered my head with my hands and landed on my elbows snapping my clavicle in 2 places. Now my helmet is always on
