So today I went on an awsome ride through technical sections, DH, and lots of dirt jumps. Anyways, I came flying down a steep non-technical section at around 50km/h, tried to take a short turn and BAM! Slid a good 15 feet because of a stupid small random gravel patch that wasn't supposed to be there. Scraped/bruised like mad knee and a cut. This was the ONE DAY I forgot to wear shinguards! UGH! I noticed that my helmet had a few scrapes on it which were not there before, (that's why it's always good to wear a helmet) otherwise my head would probably have a gash on it. I got up, shook it off and continued on with my ride. When I stopped later I found out that a peg was missing from my pedal, well i found it, in my leg. What does the say about the quality of Kona Jack***** pedals? Just a small cut from it but deep. And did I mention my scratched up frame?? It has battle scars too, but that's why the bike came with touch up paint.

Note to self: WEAR SHINGUARDS ALL THE TIME!

I will have pics in a few minutes... once I find my digi camera.

The knee injury looks like nothing in the picture but that's because the camera was set on low quality.

What? The pics don't show any bruises at all...I have a huge blue/brown bruise thats getting bigger but it doesn't show up in any of the photos. And my knee also feels like it has internal damage.

Last week I wrecked and couldn't move my right arm above my shoulder for about 3 days. You'd be surprised how much you have to move your arm above your shoulder during an average day.

Whoah.. breaking a pedal pin off in your leg is uber-hardcore. chicks hopefully dig that, lol

Hope you didn't bruise your bone or something. At least your skin is pretty well intact... apparently you didn't land on gravel (or you're luckier than I am).

Put ice on your knee, if it feels like something is moving inside it in the morning -see a clinic.
Nice that you and the bike were not too bad off. Don't worry about paint scuffs, it'll keep happening.

All this talk of high-risk riding in Ancaster has me thinking. Maybe you can throw a "Dave Watson" next spring and try a road gap of the Paris-Ancaster peleton.

The Martin's Road hill might be a good place.

Just don't hit me in the head with your back tire. I'll be the guy suffering on the climb.

I can't believe I just suggested that.

Jeez, I get more beat up just doing yardwork.

When your knee looks like a mouldy grapefruit or you have scabs the size of pancakes let me know. Until then, cowboy the ***** up.

You're lucky you got so little on a 50kmph slide. If you were actually going at 50 kmph, youd probably be much bloodier. Frankly, I do feel sorry, but that doesn't look too bad. I've fallen off stair gaps and ****. Hell I got a pretty damn big bruise about 7-8 cm in diameter from screwing up an x-up and Im not complaining lol.

But if there is something that really feels wrong, go see a clinic or something, you don't want to leave something bad untreated.

UPDATE:

Today I fell, really hard. Came down a steep DH/technical track slowly (so I wouldn't crash), and my fornt brake locked. My bike flipped, went flying down, and was caught by a tree (fortunately). Unfortunately I went flying down and a tree broke my fall. I smashed my head on a branch, luckily I was wearing a helmet. And my chest slammed into the tree, fast. I don't remember that much after that except that I wasn't laying next to the tree when I finally stopped falling. I was next to a bunch of roots and had scrapes all over me plus two big bruises on each leg (which are big lumps now). Got up and then fell back down because of my aching chest. Once I recouperated I had to walk 5km home. Going to see a doctor because it hurts that bad (my ribs seem bruised or worse). I'll be back later with a report form the doctor.

Ya probably not because my next crash will be really painfull. Came back from doctor, found out that im the proud owner of bruised ribs! and that I was close to breaking one. I should probably lay off biking for awhile.
