hydraulic hose routing, eek!
 

my IRO Mia frame arrived a few days ago, and i encountered a dilemma when installing my juicy 5's. the cable guides underneath the top tube are spherical, and i'm not sure how i can go about installing the hoses inside the guides. :( will it be necessary to bleed my brakes to guide that hose through??! these are the first hydro brakes i've installed, and i feel pretty stupid not being able to figure this out. thanks!

Some older frames don't have hydro mounts. You may have to use good old fashioned zip ties :D

Zip ties or go to your lbs and they should have hose mounts that stick on the frame and are open on top so the hose will snap in.
Another option if you are mechanicly inclined, you could use a dremal to cut open the tops of the current mounts but you would still need zip ties to hold the hoses in. You may also want to check with the manufacturer before doing this and see if it will void the warranty.

There are also these little clamp thingies that you screw into your cable guides and have an open clamp for the hydraulic hose. They work pretty well and I use them on my bike.

My friend didn't have disc brake mounts on his frame, so he welded them on !

I'm not sure if it was a good idea, but he did a pretty good job, and they're still there even a few years later.

My HARO Xtreme came with removable clamps on the cable stays that are very handy in that regard.
Otherwise just use the zipties like Mael said. I've also had to use them to snug down the derailleur cable to prevent more chainstay wear. It was almost thru my frame already.
Zipties are right there w/ duct tape, well almost anyways.... :love:
