As said work on motor and skills first. Rocket rons? Seems to be racy type. Tire set up is very important. Go with the bigger tires to start with. Running tubeless? You should be able to if it is new. Great traction advantage with less flats. The equipment is only one part of the puzzle. Reading trail lines, anticipation for gearing and braking shifts are important too. Practice some wheelies. Ride a 4" granite curb without falling off for 50'. Practice track stands. Got clipless pedals? Go ride with other, faster riders. Start there.
