~$500 Canadian hardtail for newb
currently i'm looking for a good, strong ~$500 hardtail that will take a beating, ride hella well on streets and even better on trails. since making a thread seems to be the only way to be heard, here it is.
I'm currently looking at a Trek Bruiser 1, even though I dont freeride. It's beefy to hell, and its hardtail. and its $520 CDN. so what do you guys suggest?

When I was shoppig for bikes, my budget was about $700+ but came across 2004 models that fell into your price range. You'll have to visit your many LBS to see what you can find.

The Bruisers seems to be great bikes, but you should definatley check out the 2004 stuff before you make up your mind.
For example: My Norco Wolverine 2004 was $549 + taxes
Now it is clearing for $349 + taxes at a LBS near me.
If you shop around you should be able to find some smoking deals
