Depends on how much you weigh, what kind of conditions you ride in and what type of riding you do. They make a big difference, but you might not need the difference if you ride a certain way.

well, i have started biking quite agressively on downhill sections. the hills that i bike on are quite prone to wetness anbd puddles in the fall and winter (i know, its in a while).

When a disc breaks, you can still ride home since you still have the other disc to help you brake.
When a rim breaks, unless it's the front rim and you can wheelie your way home, you're pretty much up the creek.
I'd take a disc breaking if I had to make a choice.

But it wouldnt matter if you had disc brakes or rim breaks, your screwed either way if your rim breaks. And if you meant a disc getting messd up over v-brakes, you basicaly have no point there

In dry conditions I would consider what kind of riding you do. On downhills, there are nothing better than disks. That is what I think anyway..

Dual?? Never seen that.
Hmmm...that reminds me...anyone remember drum brakes? Worst thing to happen to bicycles. I still see them on bikes in biking catalogues.
