Crappy Ramps

So I built me a crappy ramp to jump my bikes off of today.
I started out using the lids to these little recycle boxes the city gives us (looking back it was really amazingly weak). It was maybe a 6 in ramp, which is better than nothing dang it. But I got ambitious, so I laid down a big green trash can and stuck the recycle bin in the middle underneath a big peice of ply wood then spend 20 minutes working up the nerve but I finally got it. I learned some technique issues too. I was riding with the balls of my feet on the pedals, and after the first land my foot folded up to my shin and I got all scratched up, good thing I was wearing pads. I keep the pedals in the middle of my feet now...

Pictures on a friends site(bmx):

Movie (beware, it's 8+ mb will take a bit to download, this is with my new urban bike though.)

Overall I'm pretty pleased; it was a nice step up.

Did you have the mic in your shirt pocket? I could swear that I hear a heartbeat in that clip.

Good jumps in any event. Never ceases to amaze me what people come up with to ride across or jump.... I'm just used to doing it with "natural" stuff I suppose.... Trees, dirt embankments, logs, creeks, rocks, etc.

nope no mic, it's all on the little camera. Yeah, I'd prefer to not have to build stuff everytime I want to ride, and I don't to a point but there are no ramps, it's all just drop to flats and stairs and they get real boring after a while.

We used to make jumps like that all the time as kids. Works well, easily moveable. Now move the ramp and hop over the can

I definitely need to run that ramp a good bit more to get smooth but I will have to figure something out soon, because that's gonna get tame. I do need to work on my hops.

Haha...in that scene you can see that they removed the brick from the middle.

I always build those makeshift ramps since Im too lazy to ride 2km to the nearest jumps.

Why does it say "page cannot be displayed" for both of them? (I suck with computers.)

did I get a napoleon dynamite? I don't think so. If there were jumps around here, I'd ride to them, but either I can't find them or they don't exist.
Page can't be displayed huh, hmmm...try your security setting's in your browser. Or what browser are you using?

for all you that dont know, a "napoleon dynamite" is when you get to a ramp and it breaks, stopping the bike, and therefore sacking you as you fall off the seat unexpectedly.

AH, yes, now I recall that part of the movie...seriously. I was worried about that happening, but I walked it before every time, except that time I ran it twice straight, in the video. that's why I had my friend check it. I was pretty surprised how little it flexed though.
