when climbing hills

Almost everytime out riding I find myself having to stop and take a crap. I'm wondering if this happens to anybody else or if it's just me. The guy I ride with doesn't have the issue. It's kinda annoying so I thought I'd try and see if anyone knows a way to prevent the urge. It is only happening when I'm climbing hills. I've actually had to stop before I could get to a bathroom before and relieve myself in the brush. If anyone else has experianced this, let me know if there's a way to keep it from happening.

I actually hope that I have to take a crap in the wilderness. It helps me stay close to Nature....

Sometimes though, after eatin' Mexican food, I have to do it in the creek to keep from setting the woods on fire....

I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU POSTED THIS THREAD....

Alot of peoples stomachs dont adapt well to the liquids they drink while riding. I cant do any type of energy drink like gatorade or powerade, those always upset my stomach. I always crap before I ride, I feel less bloaty.

I was thinking of starting a thread like this before. I just thought I'd get criticized for doing so.

I never have to go while riding but there is an porta-potty along the route, just in case. I only drink water and sweat it out so that I don't have to go. I think some of you might be eating too much fiber.

Haha a poopy thread

This is the weirdest thread I've seen on this forum.
I can't believe there have been 11 (now 12) responses on bowel movements.
Like madbiker said...eat less fiber...drink less prune juice...go before you leave your house. If these don't help, I would suggest wearing a diaper (not a recommendation b/c I've never done it). That way no matter what the environmental conditions are, you will always be muddy.

A diaper? I thought that's what all that material is that's sewn into the crotch of my bike shorts.............that's what I've been using it for anyway. So bike shorts aren't disposable then?

Strain? Maybe climbing up the hill, you're straining a lot and it feels like the bottom is about to drop out. I say dump the kids off in the bush.

Now I am really going to watch my step venturing off the trails. If you talk about your ride, it might confuse people if you say you "had a brown bear knocking on the backdoor". Drink some coffee before you leave the house, make it strong enough and it will either influence the kids to swim in the pool, or make make your pee smell like a fresh pot of coffee.

And get that camper's TP, the stuff that degrades quickly, or just carry a ziploc baggy to put the regular stuff in.

Thats too broad of a generalization to dictate to everyone. Some people I ride with hate drinking just water, they prefer sports drinks unlike myself.

Oh My Goodness, this reminds me of a HILARIOUS story (might not seem funny, but it was funny at the time)

Okay, so me and my friend were on a ride, and we stopped at a gas station to get a drink. My friend decides to get a chilli dog (and his stomach is never good with stuff like that, he gets gas) anyway, gas station chilli dog, very nasty, beany, soggy thing. Throws tabbasco sauce, onions, mustard, the works. We are going back threw the trails and we heard some ATV's. So we pulled out bikes off the trail and i headed up a hill to go pee. So I'm going and all of a sudden i hear my friend yelling, i finish up turn around and see my friend screaming, holding his butt, and running down the trail. He then drops against the bank of the trail screaming "NOOO! NOOOOOO!!! NOOO!!!!" I go down and i asked him what was wrong. He goes "I CRAPED MY PANTS!"
stands up, its running down his leg, i told him to go down to the stream and clean himself up. He goes about 1 ft. off the trail. and drops everything off and starts cleaning himself(this is where he told me) and anyways the ATVs come and he is standing there nothing on except his shirt, with poop all down his leg. The ATVer is like "Is there a problem here?" and drove off...My friend had to go 2 more times before making it back home.

Thats a gross/funny story i will never forget.

I know I've had to venture out by the trees three or four times since I've been riding. Each time I was lucky enough to be toting a towel or wetwipes or something to clean up with...

The good thing about the wetwipes is they are bio-degradable.

I've had the same problem with having the urges to take a dump. What I did was making myself visit the throne BEfORE I left: ya know, purge the system. It helped. I don't know that I always had to go, but it got my body used to 'thinking' it had to go before a ride.

Another problem started tho: one of the guys I ride with has to pee as soon as we hit the woods. 100-300 yards in, he's off an whizzing...NOW, I have to do the same. Maybe it's the power of suggestion, but I do it too... I used to never have to...

Yea, this is a disgusting topic, but I'd rather bring it up here amongst strangers than my bros, even though we'd still hash it out over the entire ride...so long as nobody decides to experiment...whoooaaaaaa

I used to have to go when I wenting running. I know guys who ran endurance (like 10-20 miles) who would regulary stop to "loose wieght" I also know guys who have pissed themselves during races (both bike and foot)

I always figured that things just "worked their way down" as I ran. Never had any problems climbing though.
