Regular platform pedals on a MTB
Dumb idea? OK, if one prefers? What do you think?
what do you mean by regular? If you mean bmx style then thats all I run and most of my friends too.
Sorry. Yes, BMX style.
Why weird. I don't run clipless. Lots of riders don't :) go for it.
DMR V8's. You know you want too.
ya me and all my friends just run regular pedals
Speend the bucks and get some Syncros Mentals. :D

You'd have to be mental to spend that much on some platforms pedals. |

Well I have never been accused of being sane :D but it does help if you can get a sweet deal. |

I really like these primo's that came with both the used bikes I bought, so evidently my previous owner's did too. They're cheap as well.
once you go clipless u never go back.........[B
WEll...personally i would never use platform pedals for rides again unless its a very technical trail.
i work at a bike shop and 4 out of 5 of us use platforms.
the mentals are kinda a specialized type of pedal. my co-worker bought a pair and promptly went back to his haro pedals. he thought that they were way to crazy for trail riding and they were tearing through the back of his mace shin guards. he's keeping them for his future freeride bike tho. |
There's always a combo pedal. One side clipless, one side platform. Or Crank Bros. Mallets which has platforms on both sides, along with egg beaters.
I'm not a big fan of the combo pedals and even the large-platform clipless pedals aren't all that great without clipless shoes. I just switch out my clipless pedals for platforms if I know what I'll be doing would best be done with platforms.

Have you ever tried to ride dh/urban/fr with clipless? It's suicide IMO. Gotts be able to ditch the bike quickly. |

What kind of used bikes did you buy, BMX or MTB? |
One bmx and one mtb. The bmx was a flybikes diablo, and the mtb is a azonic steelhead.
CX I'd use clips\clipless, the more nasty the offroad, the more the safety factor on being able to toss or put a foot down becomes.
Racing on XC, single track ...maybe. Ya! I'd be a mess with them, and some places I ride, no way, bad idea. Tried, I do like the energy conservation -But self preservation won out. |
DMR V12's - Grippy as you like and really smooth bearings.
I'm too chicken**** to run clippless at this point. My ALD has a set of 25 dollar DKs which I guess are the type you are talking about.

http://img133.echo.cx/img133/5231/ti...lssmall6en.jpg How is it that you can spell you correctly one time but you can't the second time in the same sentence fragment? Is it laziness? AOL'ese is frowned upon here newb. I suggest you stop for your own sake. |
