Kona 2006

Kona has some new and old offerings. They have come out with an all ladies lineup and done some small redesigns on old classics.

Pretty neat. The XC bikes seem to get a beefier frame.

What does it mean that they are moving towards post-mount calipers? How is that different than the alternative (whatever the alternative happens to be).

Konas xc bikes, to me, have always seemed a little beefier. Its their west coast roots

I didn't read the article actually, just the bike porn. I will look into it.

I guess alot of people are interested in seeing what Kona has to offer for 2006. I think singletrackworld.com needs to upgrade to Oracle.

I prefer this year's Kona Stinky but overall, the 2006 lineup is looking good.

Or they could just be smart and allow more connections...

[edit]Looks like someone changed it, connection is allowed[/edit]

I agree - since east coast riders are so much smoother, we don't need overbuilt frames.

I wonder if the Explosif is a steel frame - do Dedacciai (sp?) produce aluminium tubing too?

The colour on the new Cowan makes me . What were they thinking?
My favourites out of that line-up are:
Howler
Stab Deluxe
Stinky Primo

EDIT: I just found this on Pinkbike...anyone ever heard of this bike??

Is it just me or does the Humuhumunukunuka-A-Pua'A (yes, I copy and pasted ) come with a coaster brake? No discs or cantis. I really wanted to buy the deluxe version this year but would rather have a coaster or cantis to turn into a fixed ride.

Glad I waited!

new cowan is cool if you live in NC...but no one else.....maybe they want to make it look like sky blue so the bike looks invisible in the air....

howler looks like a short travel coiler - and interesting to find they lined up a air shock version of the coiler too.

I want a Kona Caldera....I wonder if the price will jump up more because of the change on the XC frames or if they will go down in components. Should I wait or buy it now??????
