Hey guys I am tryig to decide if I should get the new Judy SL's. My 1995 Judy SL's just **** the bed and it is going to cost $200 for the rebuild with labor. I would just assume get the new ones since Rock Shox has that trade in program. What do you guys think of the new SL's....spring loaded?

HI there,

The new SL's are very sexy...really good value too, I was going to get a pair myself, but opted for a pair of 1999 Marzocchi's Z2 superflys instead...

Still, I'd go for them, heard some good reports..

Cheers....... Rich :)

I cant stand rock shox, the whole elastomer thing is a total turn off for me.

well it turns out i had to spend closer to $400.....shocks are great (no more elastamers...springs now) Once they had the shox on the bike they then realized that i needed new brakes, as my v brakes were not compatible...i got the LX but only got to ride once so far so i'm not sure how much i like those...still need to tweak them out just a little.

but the shox are great so far.

What is the big difference between them and Sids?

Servus!

Had to pipe up on this one....

To Ben: you have been misinformed my friend. Rock Shox only has elastomers in their low-end model, the Jett. One you get to Judy, you are talking about open oil bath springs.

To Trekn: Judy has a proprietary spring system using a stage one and stage two, coil spring in each leg in a lubricating oil bath. SID uses a sealed volume of compressed air that is used as a spring medium. So, difference is steel coil spring vs. air as a spring medium.

I ride a '00 Judy SL and am quite pleased with it's performance. I have replaced the springs with a custom set that is suited to my weight and riding style. Have had much praise for Manitou in the past, as well.

The Judy seems like it would be alot stronger and dependable. right?
