In the words of Beavis ...

FIRE!FIRE!FIRE!

Well the first fire of the year has hit our area. Once again it is outside our door. Not as close as the '03 fires but if the wind changes it will be. This one is about 1/2 mile away at the moment. What does this have to do with mtb'ing you ask? The fire just happens to be on one of my favorite trails which I was planning on riding this evening At least the trail its self wont be affected because it is all slick rock but I can not ride it until they get the fire out. At least now when I do get there to ride I wont come home with ticks all over my pants. The area it is at leads me to believe that it was stated by some f'en idiot.

It sucks that some jerkwad had to play arsonist with your trails, but fire is part of the natural cycle of a forest. Some species actually depend on fire to propagate.

HAHAHA Actually, some friends of mine were out riding when the '03 fires started and happend to have their helmet cams on. They have one shot where a wave of fire fire actually curled over their heads. The were bustin' their arses to get out of there but the fire came up on them faster then they anticipated. I have never seen them ride so fast as they did that day I guess you could say some one lit a fire under their arses

I will drop him an email and see if I can get it. It has been a year since I spoke with him and he now lives in CO.

I heard the irony, however bad, is the fires are being started because of all the rain causing larger vegetation growth than usual, which makes for good igniters.

You guys have been getting it rough lately ...
