Is this tire fine...
...or should it be replaced? It's a 3 months old tubeless hutchinson python.
See the bump where the clean spot is:
What would be the cause of this? This is my second tire with the same problem, and I've always used them within recommended pressure ranges.

Treads are worn anyway..I flex the tire un-inflated to see if any cracks in the mat or the base of the knobs = new tire.

Pull the tire off and have a look at the insides. I'd say you'll find some broken threads or delamination of the rubber holding the cords. I get things like that on my roadbike a fair bit. That areas just a lot weaker than the rest. Get a new tire and save yourself the hassle.

Do you carry your bike on a trunk rack and that tire is near the exhaust? Just trying to figure why a small portion of the tire would bulge like that, and zx108's "burnt?" response prompted my line of thinking. Plus, you said it's happened before. Do you store your bike next to something hot? Just thinking out loud here...

Thanks all. I'll get a new tire.
Here's what happened inside:
I don't think it is heat, because it's never gotten anywhere close to a heat source. After giving some thought, it might be because of the sharp edged rocks I went over a few days ago. That's all I can think of

Yup. That's eactly like my roadies. I think it's just a problem with the manufacture of that particular tire. What's your LBS like? I've been able to get mine replaced for free so far when they've done that.
