Wheels, please help

Ok, so I am looking to buy some new wheels for my 03 hardrock chromolly because they suck a$$. One of my relatives recommended I geet rhyno lites because some of his friends have them and he said theyre good for jumping and stuff and hes seen downhill racers use them. he also said that the rhyno litexls are awesome wheels and can hold up to just about anything. He also said that the sun ditch witch wheels on his P2 are great but, they my be too expensive plus im not going to be getting disk brakes so I think the rhyno lites are the only way too go but they are both for 8 and 9 speed bikes and my bike has a 7 speed is the rear so does this mean its not possible to use the rhyno lites at all with the 7 speed. And if thats not possible can I just buy an 8 or 9 speed to make it work? and if i need to an 8 or 9 speed what onedo you recommend?(I DONT want to spend alot so any thing the same quality as the one on my bike right now is fine) and with an 8 speed can I just keep my 7 speed shifterand not use 1 of the gears?

Thanks in advance, Greg

Take a look at the Mavic 717 rims with shimano XT hubs. I can't recall whether you can use a 7 speed cassette on them though...

You probably could do it yourself, not much skill is involved but you would need the rim to be trued afterwards. You could go with the Ditch Witch rims but they are meant for disks, while you could use v-brakes; but that would cause the black paint to get stripped away. I currently am running the ditch witch rims and so far, no complaints here.
