Any experience with speedgoat Breakaway Derailleur Bolt?

This is related to an earlier thread I posted regarding my irreplaceable derailleur hanger.
Speedgoat is selling a replacement rear derailleur pivot bolt that is apparently designed to shear if/ when my rear derailluer is smacked hard.

the product

Does anyone here have any experience with these things?

I used to have one years ago (made by Carmichael, I believe). I never broke it off, so unfortunately I can't testify to its effectiveness.

It's not like you have anything to lose. Your situation is exactly what it's designed for so I say do it

I had one on my road bike (made by control tech, I think) but like gastro, I thankfully never had the pleasure of testing it.
