Brakes

What do ya'll think of those brakes with the Rotors? I don't even know what they are called, and I don't plan on getting any soon, but I was wondering what your opinions where.

They are called disc brakes. IMHO if you live in real wet and grimy conditions and need to stop, they are for you. If you go insanely fast downhill all the time or in traffic they could be ideal. However like you living in Tx. I do not see the point yet.
