Death on Chubb Trail, MO?

Not too sure how many Missouri riders there are on here, but did anyone hear about a death on the Chubb Trail around Sunday, August 7th? I was out of town, but two of my riding buddies said they came across a guy in the park who's friend had apparently died that morning. This is third hand, but the guy said that his friend was training for a triathalon. He got just a few hundred feet into the ride from the lower parking lot at West Tyson park and had a heart attack. Paramedics were not able to revive him. I'm sure this guy was in top shape. It's a shame.

Does anyone know anything about what happened? Like I said, this is third hand at this point and I'm curious if anyone else can substantiate the story.

Well I've had healthy "All American" type friends die as well - they were in shape. On died in 1996 and I think he was taking creatine or effedra( sp?). Anyhow, there was no foul play and at the time no one was investigating performance drugs.

Very sad indeed if the story is true. Prayers.

I was suprised that I didn't see it on the news or read about it in the paper. I did a google search and came up empty handed. I may give the park officials a call and see if they can provide any details. If the story turns out to be accurate, I'd be interested in what happened. Maybe it's something that can be learned from. It may just be one of those "you never know" incidents, though. I'll post here if I find out any details from the park officials.

I'm surprised that the press hasn't been all over it. They usually love the healthy person dies anyway storey. Mainly because it's rare. If it's true than it is really too bad. A road cyclist was killed being hit by a car last week just two blocks from my house. It was a hit and run and they still haven't caught the person responsible.

Very sad, be careful out there gang.
