Aaron Chase "neutral" gear?
Just saw one of these for the first time today in a catalogue I was browsing... just curious if anyone has experience with it, and how exactly it works. It claims to replace your bottom three cassette cogs for a neutral gear to allow a faux-freewheeling when rolling backwards. I can't quite figure out how it works though, and how you would shift into it mid stall to roll back out of a move...?

You would likely sat the deraileur to loose the bottom 2 gears. This is like an overbuilt spacer to replace the first 3 gears on your cassette. You shift into postition and it works like a neutral gear. I know guys that have made them with plumbers pvc pipe

Do they give your chain more wear that usual? because I reckon slipping on a surface wouldn't be good for a chain, but theh again lots of that trials stuff would give chain premature wear. Oh and using one of those is taking the easy way out!
