Kona Hahanna or Trek 4300 Disc as 1st bike???

Hi everyone!! Im 14 and want to begin riding, but first I need a bike. I have seen 2 that I like and need advice on which is the better one to go for. I have a Kona Hahanna and a Trek 4300 Disc in mind. Which should I go for bearing in mind i want to ride in the local woods but also need the bike to zip around town on!! Thanks for all replies!!

Hi, welcome to Bikeforums!

If you really want to choose out of those 2 only, I'd take the Kona, but I suggest you take a look at the Specialized Hardrock Sport Disc as another option.

its a little out of my price range, ive seen both the trek and kona for £300 at a local bike shop (www.evanscycles.com), can anyone suggest any other bikes i should look at for under £300? Cheers!!

Yeah, I would say take a look at that too. They are a cheap but very good bike. The

ones up here are cheap anyways. My friend is getting one. Very, VERY good bike.

its a little expensive but ive seen a hardrock disc not a hardrock 'sport' disc, is this better than the kona and trek or not??

i bought a hardrock sport disc on friday, it's AMAZING. frame is beefy, tires are grippy (a little loud, but meh), its a very very good ride. if you can get one, that would be my choice.

LAdy at my LBS told me the disc brakes on the 4300 sucks and to get the regular 4300. I did and I love it. Well, except for the seat.

Hey I'm 15 and I also needed a bike just like you I ended up buying the Norco Wolverine its an awesome bike and it was pretty cheap also. You might want to take a look at one.

ThE 2006 Hahanna is really geared towards XC this year so if you're not going to be doing big drops and such, and want to concentrate on speed I would go for that over anything else. However, if you want to do a bit of freeriding, the other suggestions mentioned in this thread would be a better route.
