Tips on an upgrade

I just bought a supercycle fringe (Canadian Tire). and i know this is not a very good bike. considering that i am a dirtjumper. but i have alot of other interests and a 14 year old cant get a job so i am not very rich, but enough about me. i was wondering what kind of upgrades besides whole bike i could do to make this a rigid bike for under $350 CDN Please help. A frame would work... if cheap.... and fork but again cheap i need most bang for the buck

With a budget like yours, your best bet is to try second hand. Give ebay and craigs list a look and see what's around in your area. That or check out an LBS around where you live for a closeout on a last year model.

I have a set on my Mongoose ALD ($250) and they aren't as bad as you guys make them out to be. I've put a fair bit of miles on them and haven't had any issues.

They aren't the best thing around and my new bike's Hayes 9s blow them away but for the money they cost...

I beg to differ. Generic V-brakes have more stopping power in my experience

Jamis makes good stuff, I've seen the 04 komodo frames going to pretty cheap, a steelhead is a great option too (Azonic).

Upgrading would be a foolish purchase on that bike. Go take a look at the Boulder SE from Giant. Should be right around $350 CAD and is A nice rigid bike and will be pretty sturdy.
