Is this bike worth getting?
1998 klein attitude race mountain bike size medium. the frame is a 98 but the components are all 2002 and have less than 10 miles on them. drivetrain is all xt with a sram 7.0 cassette, pc 99 chain, and bontrager select crank. brakes are avid single digit 7 with xt levers integrated with shifters. bontrager race light seat(red), bonty race light stem and seatpost. wheels are bontrager superstocks. tires are panaracer trailblasters 1.95. bar is bonty high rise. grips are salsa. shock is manitou black elite 80/100. headset is cane creek c2.
the frame had a hairline fracture at the headtube downtube junction that we fixed and couldnt get the matching paint so i got some blue paint to touch it up.it looks that way because of the diffent paint and he had to sand a little . What do u think, this bike is going for less than $500 (U.S).....the reserve is $300(U.S.) ....is this worth it? Here's the picture: https://www.geocities.com/joshe236/klein2.JPG
Thanks,
Josh

This bike is light and very responsive. Also, Klein does the little things such as creating very smooth welds, running the cables inside the frame, and creating some of the higher quality paint jobs on 2-wheels.
Good luck with your decision!!
PS: I couldn't get your link to work.

Joshe236,
The parts onthe Klien are good but the frame? HMM cracked and welded essentially weakend that area, the tubing in a Klien are thin enough heating it again would weaken it. The Specialized if it is used ijn my opinion is way too much.

That Klein is a great deal, but like someone said before me cracked and weld dont mix; however doesn't klein have a lifetime warrenty on all of it's frames(that excludes paint chips). And that specialized is way over priced. It's worth 1.1K New

Yea, thanks. I didn't get the bike...... I went to a bike shop and searched around for a new bike...I need one badly. I rode my friends scott vertigo it was amazing compared to my 40 lbs. mongoose. I'm looking into the 2002 Giant Rainer, w/ bombers, disc, etc, and the rockhopper pro 2002, both for $700. Or check out e-bay for a used FSR, below $800. Any ideas?

Kleins are fast (I won a cyclocross race on my Mantra) but they are fragile. I imagine that, should the guy crack his fram, you would probably help him warranty it - I would.
