am i dumb or not?
i see everybody with the full faced helmuts and i'm jealous, they look awesome!! right now i have a 661 mullet helmut but i don't like it. i have the 05 stuff so i do a lot of jumping / gentle free riding (no drops bigger then 6 feet), think a full faced helmut would be a little bit of overkill? i know theres nothing wrong with lots of safety but do you guys really think i need it?

I have a full faced helmet. I like it. It's nice and light and stays where I put it on my head. It's a Bell Helmet. Not Shaby. I would say yes to getting one. You can never be to safe, just a little safty crazy. (Just No Bubble Rap lol.)

Full face lids won't prevent broken necks... Maybe broken jaws, and busted mouths. Unless you're into DH racing or serious DJ'ing, I'd recommend just wearing a good brand helmet. The winter months might not be too hot, but otherwise they'll sweat you to death if worn for anything other than DH riding....

From what you are describing a full face helmet isnt really nesecary. However it is up to you to decide. I have seen full face helmets save jaws from total destruction and have seen people break jaws while wearing one, without it I'd hate to think what would have happened. I do DH and feel I MUST wear one. If I did DJ, street I wouldn't use one. That's what townhillers do

sometimes I feel stupid wearing a full face, it makes me feel like a wuss. since I haven't gone on the trails very often recently, I'm deciding to wear my full face for just urban stuff, I might as well use it, and face plants can happen anywhere.

Hey Guys (& Gal's) don't worry what others might think about what you wear. I'm about the only rider around here that wears elbow/forearm padding, but I won't go riding w/o them. They've saved me from alot "more" scars on my arms....
Who cares about others thoughts? Some don't even wear helmets.

As long as you wear your helmet is all that matters. I only use a ff helmet when racing dh. Other wise I just wear a Giro X-Gen.
The only time I saw a helmet that looked out of place was just the other day when I saw a roadie wearing a Giro SwitchBlade (not realy a true ff but close enough) with a full race kit (the lycra outfit with all the logos on it). I guessed he might have had a broken jaw or something but it still looked funny.
