Lately I have heard "Marzocchi" pronounced many different ways around here. I just wanted to know if anyone actually knows how to pronoounce it, or even just tell me how the majority of you people pronounce it. These are what I have heardI am typing these exactly how they sound)

- MAR-ZAH-CHEY
- MAR-ZOO-KEY
- MAR-ZAH-KEY
- MAR-ZOO-CHEY

Ive heard more but I cant really think of them?

In Italian, as far as I know, the two C's in a row produce the CH sound in english.
For example, Gucci (pron. Goochy)

But this is complicated b/c in Italian, the CH makes a hard C or K in English, e.g. Chianti (kee-on-tee)

Marzocchi seems to have both of these. (assuming the original poster spelled it correctly, I don't know)

About the O part in the word I tend to think that it is not pronounced as "Ah" but instead "Oh" b/c it is similar to Spanish and that's what i took for 6 years and thats how that langauge pronounces most O's.

Also, people have the "Zokes" nickname for Marzocchi, not "Zocks" so I think all of the original suggesttions are wrong, based on the pron. of the O.

So I vote for Mar-Zo-Chee
or Mar-Zo-Kee

If anyone speaks Italian or knows of other words with the CCH in a row we could robably get to the bottom of this

Almost. Two c's in a row are pronounced like 'ch' only if followed by an 'e' or 'i'.

Spot on.

The 'ch' rule takes precendence so it should come out like "Mar-zoh-key"

I agree with this assessment. I speak Spanish and married an Italian whose grandmother speaks only Italian so I am fairly familiar pronunciations in both languages and your assessment seems right to me.

My vote is for the latter.

So far I'm the closest although I have seen Italians visit the board once or twice.

I'm first generation American ...my parents are adult immigrants from Florence, Italy.

sS-bEn is phonetically on the mark ...Mar-zoh-key.

In the Italian language, the first syllable gets the accentuation.
