Do you ever get bored with riding?

Ug, it just seems like theres no point in riding because i've been practically everywhere thats ridable, since either the roads are to big or to small to ride to I'm stuck in this 12 mile perimiter.

get a plane to somewhere else or try a long trip in your bike.

I suggest biketrip website.

I sometimes go to the high school track down the street to ride a few 400 m laps. If that isn't boring, then your neighbourhood shouldn't be.
Why do you ride?
For exercise? Then set some fitness goals and work towards them.
For sightseeing? Break out of the 12 mi. box.
For utility? Ride where you need to ride.
To "pwn newbs"? Find racing opportunities and prepare to pwn and be pwned.

Everyone has a little burnout now and then. I take a week off every now and then and it helps recharge the batteries.

take some time and decide why you ride. I recently realized Ive been riding for the wrong reason this summer. not for enjoyment or relaxation so I took a couple weeks off and went back with a new attitude and the same trails look new because of all the stuff to the left and right of them. working on my bike helps also so I can concentrate on the changes Ive made. that is a lot easier if you know the area you are riding in advance

Yup, I'm so busy and burnt out that I haven't ridden in almost 3 weeks. It sucks because I know I want to ride but I just haven't been feeling it. All my riding buddies are the same way, some haven't been riding in the month. It's really the heat, we battled it all summer long, getting up at 6am to try to beat it but its just too much now. In the next few weeks it will start cooling down, I can't wait till late Oct-early Nov. thats when I will get a LOT of good riding in. It will be so nice, 70's and sunny...man, its like when our season starts.

I just get a new piece of gear or equipment. Makes me anxious. If I'm burned out, it sometimes has something to do with a nagging injury. Try adding some rest and hitting it hard in a week. Or, add some slicks to break the routine and see how far you can go until you get sick of the pavement and get back in the trail. Good luck.

I breathe, therefore I ride. I never get bored with riding, best trick is to set some goals for one ride. See how long you can go one day, then the next go for different lines through the same trails, or do the trails in reverse(Which equates to climbing hell for me.) Or just go pound out miles, or find things to play on, do something that makes it interesting. I tend to put myself into situations when I train, training is boring as hell, training for me are really long rides, that can take up to 5-8 hours at a time some local park with alot of elevation. To make things fun I will take 2 or 3 days a week of riding nothing but street or the local bmx track. Taking a break from the long stuff this week, taking this week to just play around on the bike, the reason, I hit my training and mileage goals for the year already. Anyways back to the subject for a relative beginner if switching things around some doesn't work, a couple days off the bike won't hurt.

I'd get bored easily if I'm stuck with just one type of riding week after week. That's why I mountain bike, road bike, ride fixies, and take my tour bike on occasion tours.

I never get bored, except on the road. I just can't see what's so exciting about going in a straight line.
Most of the riding I do is trials. It's frustrating at times, but the sense of achievement you get when you've learnt a new skill is great.

I get bored in August usually, so I spend a bit more time on my road bike. I really like doing fall rides among the changing leaves, and that rekindles my interest...

I don't really get bored, it's more just burnt out. My problem lately is that my race season is over with so I don't really have anything to work towards. I was still able to get out at least four or five days a week though and generally had a great time when I was out. I even led a couple of group rides with riders of all abilities so that was pretty cool.

Now a week ago I hired a professional coach so I haven't really had much time to get bored. Now I just do whatever he tells me to do. Unfortunately so far this has only included one day of actually being on my mountain bike. It will make me much stronger for next season though so it will be worth the time, pain and $$$$$.

I used to live in Plano so I can see how you could get bored riding in that area. take a trip up to Arkansas and ride the Womble Trail & Earthquake Ridge. They are about 4 hours from DFW area. The other thing you can do is start doing adventure races and off road triathlons. It will add to your fitness and just when you're sick of one thing, it's on to the next.

Vary your ride patterns via. direction, time of day or intensity.
If that gets boring too, buy yourself a new bike.
It it still gets boring, take along a digital camera.
If none of the above works, GIVE ME YOUR BIKE NOW....
Apparently, you've stopped breathing....

No, it does happen. People do get boored of riding the same thing again and again. Also when you build up on a certain skill/confidence leval you need to look for more challenging trails etc.
