A stem will only have an effect on the handling if it is much longer or shorter than your current stem or if the rise is different.

As far a price goes, it is a good deal in my opinion.

I love all things thomson though.

well, i wasted the time of whoever read this. sorry

i hear that the stem is magnesium and people have alot of problems with it corroding.

does fsa make good stuff, they have a $70 stem so now it is the fsa or the thomson. the fsa is lighter, but the thomson is a thomson

Is there a reason you picked this to upgrade? Are you currently having trouble handling your bike compared to a different stem/bar combo? I'd have to advise against upgrading for the sake of upgrading, otherwise you could save up and buy a new fork or wheelset or something else similar.

Basically, how do you know a new stem will make your bike handle better to you?

Far be it for me to try to dissuade someone from buying a Thomson stem but the Swiff has a point.

what you say makes perfect sense. i would like a nice fox up front, but after buying the bike it would take me a long time to get 400 and my pearents would not let me dish out that much now. 70 for a stem is do-able. i guess i dont need to upgrade it, it isnt really that bad. but does it hurt to go from a pos kona stem to a thomson?

I wanted a new wheelset. Then I realized "eh, ill get a set when i break my current set or at least when they start getting untrue more often and more easily."
