Reinforcing the head tube - anti-ovalisation
Right as some of you will know I've recently finished my bike. I've put some six inch triple crown forks on it. Given that the frame is two years old I'm concerned about ovalising(sp?) the head tube. Firstly I must pointout that the frame is designed for taking triple clamp forks. Just with it being second hand (I don't know how much the previous owner abused it - though it appeared in very good condition when I got it) I am concerned about frame fatigue.
To give me some piece of mind I decided to put a jubilee clip around the bottom of the head tube, see pic:

The idea being that the clip is aplying "negative pressure" evenly all around the bottom of the head tube. It does not in any affect the headset, the forks turn freely.
What are peoples views on this? It won't save the frame in a big crash, but I hope it will enable the frame to deal with the stress of the triple clamp.

DMN, also check out this headset. This should take pretty much anything you can throw at it.

Thats pretty huge. I was thinking of trying out one of these, its more in my price range:

The only problem being I'll have to adapt it as ACs' are supposed to have intergrated headsets, the one in there now (a Cane creek C2 I belive) has also been adapted.

Looks like it would do the job. Not a big fan of integrated headsets, seems like they are slowly taking over though.

Integrated don't look as strong IMO. Luckly for me so did the guy who had the frame before me and adapted it to take a normal one (or rather adapted a normal one so it would fit).
