Dual crown forks
I see hartails with dual crown forks. Why is this? doesnt that mess with the geometry of the bike and also what is the advantage over a simple single crown fork?

I have 2 friends with DC on hardtails and I like it alot better. To me I noticed a very slight difference before and after on their bikes. They still steer fine, and the travel is great. I like it so much im putting a DC on my hardtail.

Many newer model ht frames' geometries are built to accomidate for longer travel forks, maybe up to 5 or 6 inches so it's not so raked out. It's more important that the frame can handle the leverage of a longer travel fork or it'll snap.
Personally I prefer 5" on my ht.

A Double (Or triple) crown fork does not necessarily have to have Long travel, although that is the way they have gone over the past few years. The advantage Of Triple crown forks is that they are stiffer and offer less flex or twisting movement when the Wheel hits obstructions. If you are into aggressive riding or high speed downhill then these are a definite advantage. However they do weigh a bit more, are more expensive, unless you buy low end, and they will put more strain on the headtube.
