Crossed Gear Cables

Also Anyone Notice That The Gear Cables Cross Each Other On The Underside Of The Stumpjumpers Frame?
Any Clues Why???

There's actually a good reason for it. If the cable coming from, say, the right side of the bar was to go into the cable stop on the right side of the downtube, the housing would have to make a pretty sharp turn, increasing friction. By routing it to the opposite side, the curve of the housing is smoother and more natural, so the shifting/breaking is also smoother. It might look weird on the underside, but nobody ever looks there. Although I've noticed that new Specialized bike have a logo on the bottom, so maybe people do.

are you serious. "crossing of shifting cables may throw sparks, resulting in sudden ignition of magnesuim fork castings."

i spent my summer working around military aircraft with magnesium left right and center. and trust me, it's not that easy to light...
