Broken Drop out

I am a new (2 year) mountain biker with a habit of breaking the drop out and damaging the
gears of my bike. I bought cheap, entry level but have broken the drop out 6 times in 2 years.
I am about to buy a new bike in the 700 - 1000 euro range and have been looking at the options.
What I want to ask is should I be looking to buy a stronger bike eg. for jumping or will I find the more expensive bikes less liable to break. I do not race and mostly ride single track but am not a XC kind of rider. I like to climb for the exercise then ride down hard and fast jumping if I have the chance.

Hope the is not to much of a newbie question and thanks in advance

Look into the 2005 Mountain Cycle Rumble. It is a xc/dirtjump/light freeride frame and comes with replaceable dropouts for 2005. By the looks of them though, you wouldn't break it anyway.

Are you breaking the dropout or the derailleur hanger?

Not sure of the correct name but its the small piece that conects the derailleur to the frame.
Excuse my explaination but English is not that good and I am new to this sport.

Ok. Dropouts are what the wheel quick release skewer clamps to and would require a new frame if busted. YOu are talking about the deraileur hanger which is replaceable. If that's the case then you just have to stop hitting the deraileur on stuff. I've personally never busted one. What are you doing when the hanger breaks?

Thanks for the info. to answer nodnerb question, when I break the derailleur hanger I walk a lot.
Do ya think they are breaking a lot cause the bike was cheap 300 euro entry level, will a better bike be less likely to break?
cheers

If something is going to break, then the best option is a breakaway bolt , a pre-weakened Al bolt that will break before you snap the hanger or the rear mech. carry some spares.

lol That's funny. What I meant was, what are you doing 'while riding' when the hanger actually breaks? Are you jsut riding down the street and then it snaps? Or are you riding a trail and crash into a tree when it stops working? Good answer though.
There's nothing I know of that you can do to stop hanger breakage except stop hitting the deraileur while riding. You didn't mention anything about the deraileur shifting into the spokes or anything so the only thing I can think of is actual direct hits to the deraileur.
