Today I saw ,for the first time in 3yrs.,my Univega Alpina Pro that was stolen from my garage. The new
'owner' was quite happy with it.It looks like it's been thru a war zone, but he's put lots of miles on it.I told
him that I don't hold it against him for having it.He wasn't the one who stole it."Happy riding!" I said.I had that trustee steed for 17 years.A bit of a hybrid it was.Good road-going geometry, big frame. It even still had those distinctive, funky drum brakes that I had retrofitted to replace the cantilever.
Kona Kikapu/hoss deluxe mix, 1950's Malvern Star gent 28" turned into a stealth commuter with drums and a three speed.
I love a happy ending. But I still would've *****ed him out mightily, reminding him that really cheap bikes are usually someone elses. And how do you know he did'nt do it? I'm still looking for the (rare) motorbike stolen from me in 1996, and when I find it, WHEN!, I'm going to make a noise about it!
