Giant Reign 2 or Trance 3

Hi All,
I am currently looking at purchasing a new full suspension Mountain bike and so far the best I have come across(That is in my price range) is the Giant Trance 3 2005 model and the Reign 2 2006 model. I know that the Trance has received the mountain bike of the year 2005 for the 4" travel class, and this was my first choice. But now I can get the Reign 2 for the same price as the Trance 3. What worries me is that I intend on using the bike for cross country riding/racing and am not sure if the rear travel might be a problem with 6". Please can you give me any help on this subject, I would like more opinions. I might also think of getting the Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Expert Disc 100 for $1000 more(If I can afford it). Do you think this would be a better bike? or should I rather just go for one of the Giants?
