In the Market

I posted this thread in the S/S - Fixie board, with no responses. Hopefully someone here has an idea or can tell me about the frames I'm interested in:

Ok, first all, I'm a roadie who just stumbled over here, but I'm on a mission . I love road cycles, always will, but I hate riding mine in the slop. I have a fat tire, but the gearing is not my thing, so, I'm shopping for a singlespeed. I think I have narrowed it down to three choices:

1) Sofa King
2) Wily
3) Gary Fisher Rig

I'll take any and all input you have, good, bad or indifferent. I also have the option of transforming an old (1998) Schwinn Mesa into a s/s, but I think I want to keep it the way it is, unless someone shows me the light.

I'd go with the Sofa King. Why? It's Sofa King fun to say... How strong is a Sofa King frame? It's Sofa King strong!! How lite is a Sofa King frame? It's Sofa King lite!!

I've got nothing constructive to add...

alright, so I just did a little research...
It looks like I can't find jack on the sofa king stuff, which is annoying because I wanted to see what they had.
The Gary Fisher looks like a pretty sweet set up, if you are seriously considering going that route you should also check out the kona unit which comes in a 29". It seems pretty hooked up too.
That wily though, I mean damn, if I could afford that, holy crap I'd be all over it. I really really like the "retro" I don't know how willing I would be to ride it(it would take some time, but I think I'd come around), but I dig the idea and the results and I like thin steel tubing. I would so go with that if I could...uh, I mean...if I were you.

Sofa King is (was) made in Little Rock. Small company, which has now merged with Grail cycles (www.chainwheel.com). However, living in the Little Rock area, I can still get my hands on one (Ti King Pin - only about five or so ever made). They are sweet as pie. The Gary Fisher is real sweet, I'm leaning real hard toward that "Rig" (pun intended) because it's readily available. The Wily is a true rocker. I'm fortunate in my "advanced experience" (read: older age) that I can afford it, I just don't know if I want to wait. In the 8 - 10 weeks it takes to get the bike, winter in Arkansas will be over and it'll be me on the roadie..... Damn, why can't we ride two at the same time????

you can, well I do, kind of. Commute on the road, but spend the weekends on the dirt. That fisher seemed like a pretty decent build, but in a totally different league than the other two then.
I have been researching getting one of these too (damn QBP is out of karate monkeys), I came across this site https://twentyniner.net/bikes/ which has a list of "all" the builders of 29" bikes. atleast that they know of. Unfortunately for me, most seemed to be custom geometry ti bikes. It sounds like it will just come down to priorities, if you want it now get the rig, I'm sure you'll be happy. If you can wait or want something nice, order it up custom style.
