This is a bit late since I didn't use the computer over spring break last week, but I rode the forest roads of Davy Crockett National Forest on St. Paddy's Day. It was a nice slow relaxing ride in fantastic weather and decent scenery.

About an hour of ride/playing around on the bike vs. about two of trail work.

Or, sew up the hole with some dental floss. No, really. Then still stick a bit of duct tape inside as an internal boot. I've done that a few times with some pretty big tears, when the budget was really strapped, or when someplace that getting a new tire quickly wasn't an option. Actually works quite well. All depends on how dirtbaggy you want to be about it/your budget. |
ya I have some electrical tape on both sides now and figure I can just ride til it pops again...only a buck 50 for 6 patches so not bad haha

Threw my GPS in my bag on the way to work this morning just out of curiosity (yeah I know it's not mountain riding - but hey - it's the same bike). It's 0.4 miles at an average speed of just over 10 mph. I do that four times every work day, so about eight miles a week commuting + whatever I get to do recreationally (not much).

Some good east-coast terrain! One un-critical tip - if you track/pan the camera along with the rider in the last shot when you shoot he will come out in a bit better focus :)

I snuck out of work early on Reflecto-Bike and hammered out to Riverside State Park to practice the 24-hour course with a teammate. Trail conditions were good, and we got just a very light sprinkle of rain at one point. Then I cruised home and stuffed my face guilt-free :) So that was 2.5-3 hours or so.

Just got back from doing some urban stuff with a friend. He gathered a crowd and was kinda forced into doing this. Each stair made the seat hit him.. well.. yeah.
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...nsnats/103.jpg FINALLY will be hitting the trails wednesday. |
Nevermind. My mom won't let me go to the trails. There are most likely perverts hiding in the woods on weekdays she says. I haven't done any real mountain biking since november. I can't wait to be 18.

Ah okay, thanks for clarifying :)
I got in some good trail miles today, first on the new bike. I LOVE it. Handles more like a cross country bike, lighter, looks better, it's just great. 11 miles biking there, 11 back. Plus whatever in the mud. I got dirty. So did the bike, obviously. Then I had to go to work and am exhausted. Couple pics of the carnage to come. Pre ride food, Five Guys. Pure awesome: http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...nsnats/905.jpg At the park, muddy. Note the broken seat. I took one of the berms to wide and went up on the side. Don't know what happened but I went OTB and landed on the seat, bent the rail. Shame, it's comfy. http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...nsnats/506.jpg Temporary rear brake, elixer on the way. http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...nsnats/713.jpg It was muddy. http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...nats/983-1.jpg |

After work, I rode out to Riverside State Park on Reflecto-Bike to meet up with the Tuesday-night ride. We headed downriver towards Deep Creek and Nine-Mile, including Sharp Stick and then coming back via Devil's Down (turns out it's Wal-Mart volunteers who've been molesting DD, folks).
I had a couple panniers and a trunk bag along tonight, so it made my "zero-inch" bike a bit of a chore on Sharp Stick, but I was cleaning stuff really well tonight for some reason :) Got home around 10:15PM, so that was a four-hour excursion. http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...IMG_0034-1.jpg |
