What Shoes?
I am looking to get new MTB shoes. I plan on doing epic rides (5+ hours) and lots of normal trail riding and maybe a couple races here and there. I do tend to be hard on my stuff on the trail (rocks etc.). My current Diadora Gekos only lasted about 1 year before they needed to be replaced. Money isn't really an issue iin determinining which ones I will get. I have tried on Pearl Izumi Vortex II and they fit well. I also tried on the Sidi Dominator 5s but the store I went to didn't carry half sizes so its hard to judge.
Thanks!

Throw the stick!!!!
I am using SIDI Bullet II's and they are great. Before these shoes I had SIDI Dominator 3's for about three years. In my opinion SIDI's are the best fitting shoe out there (for me anyway). They are also very durable.
I do prefer to get the all velcro shoes rather than the more expensive one's with the ratchet strap. I got tired of having to replace the ratchet mechanisms and the ratchet straps. It sucked being on a mountain bike vacation and breaking a ratchet. The shoes seem to fit just as well with just the three velcro straps.

i have the sidi rampa 3's (low end) and they are nice. i can imagine the dominators would be amazing.
i like the way sidis are made. i tried on a couple and they all didnt feel as good as the sidi.

for longevity Id suggest 661. , for long rides I have some Nuevos that have been throughhell and back and look like new, are stiff on the bottom yet very comfortable even after 6 hours of riding. all those "simulated" leather uppers just dont hold up. if you are doing a lot of rock gardens a racing shoe is not the way to go
