Big Bend National Park, TX

Hey everybody! I'm going down to *you got it* Big Bend Park in Feb for about 5 days and I want to know what trails to check out. I'm looking for technical singletrack and trying to avoid any if all fireroads, if I can.

Keep it real folks!

Have yet to make the drive to the other side of the state for that purpose. I have heard a lot about the LAJITAS RACE, keep hearing how that route is fun.

But here is a link to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept. If this helps any...

If you are going to be in the area on Feb. 15th I would check out the race in Terlingua. If I am not mistaken it uses some of the same trails as the classic Lajitas races of old that drew many pro riders. more info at www.tmbra.org

There is NO singletrack moutain biking in Big Bend National Park. Bicycles are limited to the same roads as motor vehicles. This means you can ride the paved roads and the unpaved 'jeep' roads. Riding anywhere else is illegal. It should be noted that some of the unpaved 'roads' are pretty technical in themselves and will certainly give you a workout. Try hauling a trailer full of camping gear down the Old Ore Road, the Glenn Spring Road, or the Black Gap Road for some great epic rides.

If you really want technical singletrack, then you need to check out Big Bend STATE Park located west of the national park.
