1/4 inch of extra shock?

I recently got a deal on a 6 3/4 inch Fox Vannilla. I put it on my Mongoose Massif, looks a bit like a NRS. The Shock is a quarter inch to long since it should be a 6 1/2, but mounted ok. I haven't ridden it yet but it feels ok when you sit on it. THink this could cause me a problem.

It potentially could cause a problem. But without seeing the frame and how it moves I can't say. I know on my bighit you can put a 3/4 in longer shock, get 1 extra in of travel and everything is fine on it.

Things to consider, is the stroke the same, more or less? Do the bushings fit so you can mount the shock? Is the shock far enough a way from the frame so the spring does not rub?

As long as the shock mounts properly. Also, if the swingarm has that range of travel already without a shock attached then I would guess it'd be fine. And a wild guess is that your stroke to travel ratio is about 1 to 3 so another 1/4 translates to 3/4 inch travel if you didn't notice. Your bike's geometry will be slightly different too, but not by much. I've done this before on a bike and added 2 inches of suspension travel but also added a longer travel fork so it evened it out, it just sat higher.
