Here goes Nuthin'
I just got a Manitou Black 80mm w/ SPV Evolve. I hope its a good one. I have heard of Manitou horror stories. I needed a new fork and neither of us, my wife or I are on a FOX budget, Rock Shox was not the answer either and I had all the stiction I could stand from a host of Zokies so Manitou it was/is or maybe not. I got a Fox F80 RLT and it would be my hands down favorite but alas Santa ain't got no 700.00. I like the Marathon nature of the Black rather than being just XC race specific and I still need V Brake bosses. so The Black it was. Oh my goodness, I am happy but at the same time I am crossing my fingers. Hope it all works out. Kinda like a new relationship.
Keep riding Y'All
I have an 04 Black PLatinum, the only problem i ran into was all of a sudden it lost most of its travel and it's lock out. I called up Manitou, sent it to them, they replaced all the insides, send it back free of charge. Has worked great since then
I got a black on my used urban assault bike I bought a while ago. It handled everything I threw at it well, without a single complaint. It wasn't one of the nicer blacks either. I am sold on the black line.
I gotta get usd to that SPV thing. I was fooling with it today, I can't see where it is [I]better[/a lockout but we'll see. Weird, active on impacts from the trail or wheel but locked out to rider induced forces. Hmmmm?? all I know is the SPV adjustment knob has some pretty cheesy anodizing or I tweaked it too much with my 16mm socket. Looks like hammered dog **** already. I thank you all for your input and look forward to more. I hold out hope even though I am not a Manitou person. I have heard good things about them. I am not a negative person.
